Peter Jackson wants two Hobbit movies and a prequel for Lord of the Rings

Good news for Tolkien and Lord of the Rings fans. Even if for the moment everything is in a rumor stage, we want to give you some very good news. Asked in an interview during the Comic Con Convention, Peter Jackson declared that The Hobbit will be split into two parts. The first will be launched in 2011, while the second one a year later in 2012. In two weeks some things changed. The ones from MarketSaw announce that a third movie is being prepared, movie which will create a connection between Hobbit and Fellowship of the Ring.

MarketSaw pointed the next things:

1 – The Hobbit will be 3D.

2 – The Hobbit will be split into two movies directed by Guillermo Del Toro and a third movie which will make the connection between The Hobbit and Fellowship of the Ring will be directed by Peter Jackson himself.

3 – Smaug and the other characters from movie will be a lot darker than in the book.

The second part of Hobbit will not make connection with Fellowship, and because of this movie’s production transformed into a mega production. Peter Jackson which should produce the two movies directed by Guillermo Del Toro, will produce now three movies, with the condition for him to become in stage director’s chair for the third movie.

Representatives from MarketSaw also said:

“Smaug will be a blend of computerized animation with real special effects, with a touch of authenticity, on a dark tone. Special effects used for Golum will be put in balance with ones realized on Smaug. Peter Jackson wishes the two movies for Hobbit in 3D, but Guillermo Del Toro doesn’t agree with this idea. He still analyzes this aspect. Those rumors come from many persons you can trust, so for this we tend to believe that those three movies will really exist.”
