India protests against “Slumdog Millionaire”
Some residents of a poor neighbourhood in Mumbai protested against “Slumdog Millionaire”, which received this year 10 nominations for Oscar Awards. The protestants say that the title and the subject of the movie is affecting the whole image of India. “Inhabitants of the slums are people, not dogs” was one of the messages put on hangers.
“Slumdog Millionaire” had premiere in India in the January’s month.
“They poke fun of us and hurt our feelings”, stated the lieder of protestants. “At least they should change the title. Why the Censor commission allowed such a title? It is very sad”, added another protestant.
Danny Boyle says that he tried to surprise the way of living for the people of Mumbai.
