Daniel Day-Lewis and Benicio del Toro – two priests under guidance of Scorsese

Daniel Day-Lewis and Benicio Del Toro will have the role of two priests from the XVIII century in the movie “Silence”, directed by Martin Scorsese, as Variety says. In its distribution we can find Gael Garcia Bernal. The movie presents drama of two priests which are confronted with violence and persecutions in their way to Japain. They want to get there to meet their mentor and for spreading the Christian believes.

“Silence” is based on the novel of Shusaku Endo which was adapted by Jay Cocks.

Filming is programmed to begin over a few months in New Zeeland and will be produced by the company of Graham King, GK Films.

Scorsese collaborated with Graham King for the successful movies as: “The Departed”, “The Aviator” and “Gangs of New York”.

Benicio Del Toro collaborates for the first time with Scorsese and Daniel Day Lewis is at his 3rd collaboration with the famous stage director, after “Gangs of New York” and “The Age of Innocence”.
