A new image from Rapunzel

The ones from DisneyPixar.fr have launched a new image from the next animated production wearing Walt Disney mark, Rapunzel. The image, as you will see, was scanned/enhanced from the Studio Cinelive revue.

Rapunzel

Rapunzel

With a limited launch on 12 November, and with a worldwide launch on 24 November, Rapunzel has in its vocal distribution actors like Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi and Donna Murphy.

The story, although in its most part looks like the original tale, it permitted to add some modern elements. The princes was kidnapped at a young age, and was locked in a tower without doors or access stairs, and she grew with an appetite for adventure and with a lot of rage accumulated in time. We must mention the fact that Rapunzel is a teenager when a very charismatic bandit helps her evade. Teenager as she is, there is no measure, balance or diplomacy, she is fanatic, impulsive and very interiorized.

Forest Whitaker and Ray Winstone in St. Vincent

The ones from Twitchfilm announce that Forest Whitaker, Ray Winstone and Gong Li were distributed in Walter Hill’s movie, St. Vincent.

Main role for this movie was obtained by Mickey Rourke, which will be an assassin forced to disguise as a priest for coming close enough of a traitor that must killed with all costs.

The life of this assassin that works for the mob becomes very complex in the moment he realizes that  acting like a good person with fear of divinity  is a lot more dangerous than being a paid killer.

First images from The Eagle of the Ninth

For the ones who don’t know, The Eagle of the Ninth, directed by Kevin McDonald, with Chaning Tatum, Jamie Bell, Mark Strong and Donald Sutherland in distribution, will tell the story of Marcus Aquilla, a young roman that desperately wants to find out what happened with 9th legion, lead by his father, legion that vanished from the territory of a barbarian Scotland.

If it is a good thing to think of a supernatural movie, or just at a historic story of some event, it isn’t obvious. What he knows is that young Aquilla have to pose as an occultist, infiltrate, find out if there is any living member and recover his father emblem.

The Eagle of the Ninth will be launched in 2010, and will enter in direct competition with Neil Marshall’s movie, Centurion that tells a similar story in a horror mode.

Michael Cera – lobby for Ghostbusters 3

Michael Cera seems to be working hard to receive a role in Ghostbusters 3.

Superbad’s actor confessed that his distribution in Harold Ramis, The Year One, was a dream that became reality. More than that, Cera used all opportunities to make Ramis talk about the future of Ghostbusters franchise, of which movie will reunite the old gang, and will give us a new generation of ghostbusters.

“I love Ghostbusters. When I was child, I wanted to be like Bill Murray character. Harold told me a lot of stories, which I memorized perfectly”, told Cera for the People magazine.

Ghostbusters 3 will be launched in 2012.

Star Trek 2 pre-production next year

Last Star Trek had such a big success, especially around the franchise’s fans, that last projections of movie haven’t ended yet and rumors begin to spread about a sequel.

Among more or less official announcements, there was a serious talking about the future of the ones from U.S.S Enterprise. Here is another piece of information delivered under the sign of semi-official statement. Zoe Saldana declared that Star Trek 2 will enter pre-production next year.

“I spoke with J. J. Abrams and Bryan Byrk, producer of Bad Robot and they told me they work on a script with Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, and that most probably we’ll enter pre-production at the ending of 2010”, said Saldana.

That’s all about Star Trek 2…

Keira Knightley – another drama?

Famous actress, known best for the Elizabeth Swan role in The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, will play in a drama with Christoph Waltz and Michael Fassbender.

The new production names The Talking Cure and will have as a director David Cronenberg. Initially he planned The Matarese Circle thriller, but the project got canceled when Tom Cruise chose another movie.

Now that the rights for the piece written by Christopher Hampton were bought by the Australian distributor Hopscotch, and Cronenberg choose an impressive distribution, all that is left is to start filming.

Cronenberg got attached to this project about psychoanalysis parents: Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung – since 2007, but the waiting seems to have reached its end.

Satellite awards designated their winners of the 14th edition on 20 december. Best movie in drama category was named The Hurt Locker, movie that received other prizes from Gotham Awards and L.A. Will we see X-Men Origins: Magneto?

We recently told that Bryan Singer comes back to X-Men franchise, to direct X-Men: First Class, which will show us about the origins of the friendship between teacher Xavier and Magneto. Some time ago we told that after X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the Magneto character will enjoy same treatment as the character interpreted by Hugh Jackman (Wolverine).

If we stay a moment to analyze the situation, the news that X-Men: First Class is on the right path, doesn’t mean anything else that the chances for Magneto to have a movie are drastically reduced.

In an interview for THR, Singer fueled this possibility by explaining:
“This story will use a part of Magneto’s past, because we are talking about a younger Magneto, so it may be possible to replace a movie made just for this character, because X-Men: First Class will explore the relationship between the energic teacher and the Holocaust victim”

Taking into consideration that X-Men Origins: Wolverine, didn’t raise to the level of expectations, this news might not be that bad.

Extra scenes for Clash of the Titans

Although it was announced recently that Louis Letterrier’s movie, Clash of the Titans, exists in definitive form and that it will be launched on 26 mars 2010, Sam Worthington stated that they will film about 11 hours of “explosive adventure” with gods and creatures from old Greece. The actor told for LA Times that the work for this movie will end in January.

We must mention that it is not about re-filming, it is about adding scenes at the already finished product. It seems that the founders were so happy for the movie that they offered Letterrier extra money for working continuously at this remake.

With all these, according to Worthington, “there were some little weak points, which we knew will exist in the moment we started this. The studio offered some money to film some extra scenes.”

More than that, Clash of the Titans has big chances to be realized in 3D format, if not totally, at least the scenes that are supposed to be filmed with producers agreement.

Avatar: 27 millions of dollars in first day

As we expected , the new film of James Cameron, the heroic Avatar, did very well at box office in the launch day, having returns of 27 millions of dollars and tickets sold in 3,452 cinema halls. Although it is a remarkable amount of money, and although the movie is spectacular, and visually extraordinary made, it hasn’t been set a new record.

Taking into consideration that Avatar wasn’t launched in the summery season, the 27 millions bought in the first day of projections represent an incontestable commercial success. Cameron’s movie surpassed, the Ice Age: The Meltdown animation, which got returns in the first day returns of 21 millions of dollars.

The leader of this classification is still I Am Legend, which got returns of 30,1 millions of dollars in premiere day. Although Lord of the Rings made 34 millions of dollars in its launch day, making to the head of the list, the movie is disqualified because it was launched in a Wednesday. It seems weirdl at a first glance but the rankings of this type start from the premise that an ending of December brings less people to cinema than a middle of a December week, and lesser people than any part of a summer week.
