A new image from Rapunzel

The ones from DisneyPixar.fr have launched a new image from the next animated production wearing Walt Disney mark, Rapunzel. The image, as you will see, was scanned/enhanced from the Studio Cinelive revue.

Rapunzel

Rapunzel

With a limited launch on 12 November, and with a worldwide launch on 24 November, Rapunzel has in its vocal distribution actors like Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi and Donna Murphy.

The story, although in its most part looks like the original tale, it permitted to add some modern elements. The princes was kidnapped at a young age, and was locked in a tower without doors or access stairs, and she grew with an appetite for adventure and with a lot of rage accumulated in time. We must mention the fact that Rapunzel is a teenager when a very charismatic bandit helps her evade. Teenager as she is, there is no measure, balance or diplomacy, she is fanatic, impulsive and very interiorized.

The Wolfman has an official website

The ones from Universal Pictures launched the official site of The Wolfman movie. If the intention was to synchronize its debut with a full moon, we can’t be sure, but it surely makes a good impression for the public. The site contains a synopsis of the movie, clips of all kinds, sections from Lycanthropy and Universal Monster Legacy (feel free to see what those are), images from the movie, and a lot of other gothic surprises (maybe not a “lot”, but those are more than enough to get you prepared for this movie so much long expected).

Directed by Joe Johnston, with Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt, Hugo Weaving and Art Malik in its distribution, The Wolfman will appear on 12 February 2010.

Forest Whitaker and Ray Winstone in St. Vincent

The ones from Twitchfilm announce that Forest Whitaker, Ray Winstone and Gong Li were distributed in Walter Hill’s movie, St. Vincent.

Main role for this movie was obtained by Mickey Rourke, which will be an assassin forced to disguise as a priest for coming close enough of a traitor that must killed with all costs.

The life of this assassin that works for the mob becomes very complex in the moment he realizes that  acting like a good person with fear of divinity  is a lot more dangerous than being a paid killer.

First images from The Eagle of the Ninth

For the ones who don’t know, The Eagle of the Ninth, directed by Kevin McDonald, with Chaning Tatum, Jamie Bell, Mark Strong and Donald Sutherland in distribution, will tell the story of Marcus Aquilla, a young roman that desperately wants to find out what happened with 9th legion, lead by his father, legion that vanished from the territory of a barbarian Scotland.

If it is a good thing to think of a supernatural movie, or just at a historic story of some event, it isn’t obvious. What he knows is that young Aquilla have to pose as an occultist, infiltrate, find out if there is any living member and recover his father emblem.

The Eagle of the Ninth will be launched in 2010, and will enter in direct competition with Neil Marshall’s movie, Centurion that tells a similar story in a horror mode.

Michael Cera – lobby for Ghostbusters 3

Michael Cera seems to be working hard to receive a role in Ghostbusters 3.

Superbad’s actor confessed that his distribution in Harold Ramis, The Year One, was a dream that became reality. More than that, Cera used all opportunities to make Ramis talk about the future of Ghostbusters franchise, of which movie will reunite the old gang, and will give us a new generation of ghostbusters.

“I love Ghostbusters. When I was child, I wanted to be like Bill Murray character. Harold told me a lot of stories, which I memorized perfectly”, told Cera for the People magazine.

Ghostbusters 3 will be launched in 2012.

Star Trek 2 pre-production next year

Last Star Trek had such a big success, especially around the franchise’s fans, that last projections of movie haven’t ended yet and rumors begin to spread about a sequel.

Among more or less official announcements, there was a serious talking about the future of the ones from U.S.S Enterprise. Here is another piece of information delivered under the sign of semi-official statement. Zoe Saldana declared that Star Trek 2 will enter pre-production next year.

“I spoke with J. J. Abrams and Bryan Byrk, producer of Bad Robot and they told me they work on a script with Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, and that most probably we’ll enter pre-production at the ending of 2010”, said Saldana.

That’s all about Star Trek 2…

Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins broke up

These two actors formed a Hollywood couple that against local trend, showed signs that will last forever. Here we got a false impression, and both of them, after 23 years of apparently indestructible marriage, broke up.

The information was launched by Teal Cannady publication, which wasn’t very explicit, so we don’t know too many things “behind the scene” of this dramatic (or not?) event. Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins, which met during the filming of Bull Durham, in 1988, have two children together.

Although the two actors never got married, they equaled with elegance the category of couples that although don’t do the big final step in an official and ceremonial way, seem to resist all sorts of problems. Just like Kurt Russel and Goldie Hawn.

You can watch Sarandon in The Lovely Bones, last movie with Peter Jackson’s signature. Concerning Robbins, City of Ember was the last movie where he acted.

Science Fiction movies for the Oscar award

The real motives aren’t known for sure, maybe because of this they aren’t very well defined into critics minds, but it is well to know that Science Fiction movies have always been ignored in the race for the Oscar award at The Best Movie category. Probably we are talking about a very well buried and rooted pre-conception about those movies labeled pejorative as a “type”. Until recently the Science Fiction movies have been exclusively associated to those cinematographic categories bonded with latest technological innovations. And that’s all. The Oscars refused to make the next step in considering Science Fiction from the simple genre to the next level of perceiving them through a less blurred vision. Fans of this genre know that cinematographic history delivered periodically movies that, although had in essence the Science Fiction, those were more than that, those movies were complex and structured on many significance layers. Not even Blade Runner or 2001: A Space Odyssey didn’t get the great award, although both are movies that cross a lot over the simple “type” delimitation.

To maintain the direction opened by the predictions about the long expected cinematographic event, I propose you 5 “genre” movies, movies that could participate with dignity in the race for the grand award. I don’t say that they are better than the rest of movies which will be selected, or that they are the best movies of this year, I only say that they are good enough to pass the limits imposed by the “genre” of which coordinates they were made. Some, like Star Trek, although they don’t propose to be total movies, to absorb all adjacent genres and be reevaluated in function of who knows what brilliant idea, are very well made. Of course that everything depends on the relative option of each person, but, I believe that the moment to quit biases, elitism, and snobbery of the ones that want to give prestigious Oscar only to that dramatic, real, pertinent, human movie.

Here we come with the eligible 5 Science Fiction movies. If there are others, you are welcomed to propose and discus they validity in what concerns an eventual Oscar for The Best Movie.

Moon, directed by Duncan Jones, is one Science Fiction movie that makes you think. (I woun’t mention here the impressive acting of Sam Rockwell, which, unfortunately it certainly will not be named for the Best Actor Oscar award). The Science Fiction component is just a pretext to analyze the thoughts of an individual like any other, which wakes into a really tragic situation. I don’t tell anything more, for those who haven’t seen this movie…

The Road, directed by John Hillcoate, has many more reasons to enter in the famous race for the grand prize. First, it is an excellent movie. From begging to end. Very well structured, with a perfect dosed suspense and with a fundamental dramatic component. Exactly like in the case of Jones, The Road places human drama into a Science Fiction frame, leaving them to unfold for themselves. Secondly, the scenery based on quality literature, is very well articulated. And at last its distribution is simply amazing…

Avatar, directed by James Cameron, is from now on the lips of those who talk about the grands winners of the festival. Certainly, at least at Visual Effects category, it will surpass all other adversaries. Cameron is convinced that this “homeric” movie will establish new standards in visual excellence. We will have to see if the movie’s story can keep up with the alert rhythm of action scenes…

Watchmen, directed by Zack Snyder, could easily enter the race for Oscars for its “intellectual” quality built-in a fantastic universe. Very few times it happens for a movie to combine so balanced and efficient two vectors so different one of another. Some might say that it was way too “philosophic”, and that it stopped the action to run funny and smooth, that it wasn’t a balance between those two components apparently contradictory. We will see the jury’s opinion…

Star Trek, directed by J.J.Abrams, is a pure Science Fiction. Without proposing big jumps of “sophisticality”, this movie pushes Science Fiction at the limits of professionalism. Using other words as  a  “genre” it is a very well made movie…

Top 10 best paid actresses of 2009

Hollywood’s actresses ask big prices in order to appear in new movies, and as a producer, if you want a movie in which to put a poster one of the most beautiful and ranked actresses, you have to dig deep into pockets for hiring such an actress.

With all those, in distinction with other years, actresses which not long ago asked at least 15 millions of dollars for a role, are happy now with 5 millions.

A source from inside the studios believes that: “Angelina Jolie and Will Smith are the only actors which receive the price they deserve”.

When we are talking of much money, a movie has to have a real potential for paying actors astronomical amounts of money to play in. But many times the what we want doesn’t come real, and box office cash aren’t every time at expectation level. Once given, money are recovered by many times or not at all.

10. Amy Adams

Actresses career consolidated during time after she made remarked into the independent movie “Juneburg”, then in the Disney production, Enchanted, in Doubt and most recently with Meryl Streep in “Julie&Julia”. Now for the her newest project, Leap Year, the actress received a salary of 5 millions of dollars.

9. Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock had a period full of projects and enjoyed this summer the most successful movie of her career, The Proposal which had  returns of almost 300 millions of dollars at worldwide level. Three months later, another comedy in which she played got ridiculous earnings of only 33,6 millions. Now, Sandra came back on the floating line, after The Blind Side handles pretty well at the box office. If you have in your pockets between 5 and 6 millions of dollars, it means you can convince Sandra Bullock to appear in your movie. If not… maybe another time.

8. Meryl Streep

Meryl Streep seems to be one of the most sure investments from Hollywood. Although she usually asks for 7-8 millions of dollars to appear in a movie, she accepted 5 millions of dollars to play the role of Julia Child, in the Julie and Julia movie. With all these, the box office returns got her back extra money, so producers can come to her because in the roles she is in almost every time prove to be successful.

7. Kate Hudson

After she took a fight with Anne Hathaway in Bride Wars, Kate Hudson enjoyed a salary of 7 millions of dollars. Now that she appears in the Nine and The Killer Inside Me musical, it is possible for her price to rise.

6. Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston assured her bank account after with Marley and Me got a huge amounts of money. For this role the actress received at begging an amount of money between 7 and 8 millions. Her next movies didn’t follow the same success and the price she will ask for the next movie will certainly be lower.

5. Reese Witherspoon

After she revitalized her career with the apparition in Four Christmases, Reese Witherspoon received for the beginning a salary of 10 millions of dollars, at which were added another 5 millions from returns. It remains to see how will box office act at her next movie, of which title isn’t known yet, directed by James L. Brooks.

4.Cameron Diaz

The role of the Fiona princess in the successful Shrek franchise, assured to Cameron Diaz the possibility to ask a high price for her apparition into movies. This way, for her role in What Happens in Las Vegas in 2008 as for her next movie, Knight and Day the price she asked wasn’t below 10 millions of dollars.

3. Katherine Heigl

After the she barely survived in Grey’s Anatomy TV show, on the big screen the things are going very well for Katherine Heigl. Even before The Ugly Truth appeared in July’s cinematographs, actress could ask for 12 millions of dollars for her next movie apparitions as Five Killers or Life As We Know It.

2. Julia Roberts

15 millions of dollars for a movie that barely reached 40 millions of dollars in United States sounds like a very bad investment. Who would have thought that a movie with Julia Roberts and Clive Owen in principal roles could be a total failure? Duplicity put into Julia’s pocket 15 millions of dollars and after that she woke up her next salary in Eat, Pray, Love was under 10 millions of dollars.

1.Angelina Jolie

Angelia is without any trace of doubt the queen of box office. Any movie in which she appeared bought serious cash, this way the beautiful actress permits for a while to ask fabulous amounts of money starting from 20 millions of dollars. For Wanted she received 40 millions of dollars, but for Changeling also she got some good money. Certainly her bank accounts have been filled recently with important amounts of money for the next movies she will act: Salt and The Tourist.

Keira Knightley – another drama?

Famous actress, known best for the Elizabeth Swan role in The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, will play in a drama with Christoph Waltz and Michael Fassbender.

The new production names The Talking Cure and will have as a director David Cronenberg. Initially he planned The Matarese Circle thriller, but the project got canceled when Tom Cruise chose another movie.

Now that the rights for the piece written by Christopher Hampton were bought by the Australian distributor Hopscotch, and Cronenberg choose an impressive distribution, all that is left is to start filming.

Cronenberg got attached to this project about psychoanalysis parents: Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung – since 2007, but the waiting seems to have reached its end.
